September Wellness Tip: Mindful Walking

It's such a busy time of year! We're all rushing to get back into our work routines, get the kids back into their school routines, as we quickly feel the days starting to get shorter.

With so much to get done it can be challenging to stay present in the moment. You can often find your mind stuck on the to-do lists as you're travelling along your commute. How often do you find that you have gotten from point A to point B with no memory of how you got there?

For the month of September I'd like to invite you to take a Mindful Walk once a day.

As you walk along your familiar route:

  • Pick one of your senses to focus on. Notice the different colours on the trees, the different sounds of the environment, the sensations of the sun or the breeze against your skin.
  • Try and find something you haven't noticed before! The world around us is constantly changing, we only have to look closely to find where.
  • When your mind wanders bring it back. Your to-do list can wait five minutes. Allow yourself a few minutes to be fully present in your day before diving back in to work.

Whether it's between your car and your workplace, an early morning stroll, or a walk to the store, you can turn your daily routine into part of your self-care.
